Nottingham taxi driver stabbed in city centre attack, March 2011.



TAXI driver was stabbed in the city centre on Saturday.

It is thought up to three men were involved in the attack on Mount Street at around 10.30pm.

A man opened the door of the taxi – a silver Vauxhall Vectra – and threatened the 33-year-old driver.

The driver got out of the vehicle and was stabbed by a man standing outside the car on the driver’s side.

The victim was treated at Nottingham’s QMC hospital but has now been discharged.



The three men thought to be involved in the attack are described as black and one is believed to have been wearing a green jacket while another was wearing a light coloured top.

Said Det Con Shaun Pollard of Notts Police: “This was a very nasty attack and the victim was fortunate not have been more seriously injured.

“The area where the incident took place would have been busy with people who were enjoying a Saturday night out in the city centre.

“We would urge anyone who saw anything suspicious happening in the Mount Street or Ropewalk areas to contact us as soon as possible.”
