Police appeal after 23-year-old shot in the leg, 4 March 2011.
POLICE are appealing for information after a man was shot in the leg.
Armed response officers were sent out to the Larkdale Street area on the edge of the Arboretum after reports of a gun being fired at about 7.50pm last night, 4 March 2011.
Following the incident, a 23-year-old Bulwell man was admitted to the Queen's Medical Centre with a wound to his leg. He remains in a stable condition.
Notts Police said his injuries were believed to have been caused by a gun but were not life threatening.
A cordon was put in place last in Larkdale Street at its junctions with Forest Road West and Tennyson Street, as well as Burns Street at the junction with Wildman Street.
This was lifted at about 10am today.
Student Rachel Littlechild, 22, who lives in a shared house in Wildman Street, said: "The guy who lives on the top floor said he thought he heard a gun shot.
"But I didn't hear anything. It really scares me. It seems like crime has been increasing around here which is a bit worrying."
David Bothwell, of Larkdale Street, said he spoke to a police officer after the area was cordoned off.
"They said no one was killed so that would lead me to believe someone was injured," said the 28-year-old student.
"Nottingham has quite a bad reputation but round here it is relatively quiet so I was quite surprised. It happens unfortunately."
Jeremiah Mtotela, 22, of Larkdale Street, said: "When I came home from work at about 10pm I saw the road was closed.
"It is scary. I have only started living here three months ago."
Officers were today carrying out house to house enquiries.
Anyone with information is asked to call Notts Police on 0300 300 9999 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
